About A Young Woman Named Mythilda
Would you like me to tell you a story?
Welcome to A Young Woman Named Mythilda, a novella I wrote exclusively for this website. I could prattle on and on about the origins of this story, but that would bore you. Let’s meet the main characters instead.
People have said many things about Myth. Most of it is twaddle.
Elves are second-class citizens. Mythilda knows this, and she can put up with the normal prejudices that elves have to endure. But when a human noble crosses The Line, Mythilda defends herself. The law, however, demands that she be punished, so Mythilda is forced to flee from her home and family.
The world’s gone topsy-turvy, but Izzy is still Izzy.
Homesick and depressed, Mythilda wanders aimlessly until she runs into a group of gnomes who are harassing a young human woman named Izzy MacDonald. Mythilda rescues Izzy from the gnomes. But then Mythilda finds herself in a heap of trouble—Izzy intends to follow her wherever she goes, and Mythilda cannot get rid of her.
The stage was set for the confrontation between a bulbous bigot and an elf named Mythilda.
And the road ahead is perilous. Before long, Mythilda and Izzy run into a human, Ronnie Bridge, who wants to drive all non-humans out of the land. With help from some goblins, ogres, and a beardless dwarf, Mythilda and Izzy must prove that Ronnie Bridge is a fraud. If they fail, elves and other non-humans will suffer.
In gay moods, we headed towards someplace else—and towards a hero called Myth.
A Young Woman Named Mythilda is just the beginning of Izzy and Myth’s tale. All told, I expect their story to include five novellas, each of which will be published on this website. If you would like to be notified when a new part of their adventure is available, please subscribe to my newsletter.
